Pharmacological effect
1. Targets: SSTR1, SSTR2, SSTR3, SSTR5 (with the highest affinity for SSTR5). Unlike octreotide and lanretide (prioritizing SSTR2), parretide has a significantly stronger affinity for SSTR5. The high expression of SSTR5 in ACTH-secreting pituitary adenomas is the core advantage in the treatment of Cushing's disease.
2. Inhibit the secretion of various hormones from the pituitary gland
◦ Inhibit ACTH → Reduce cortisol secretion by the adrenal cortex (Core treatment for Cushing's disease)
It inhibits GH (growth hormone) and IGF-1 and is used for acromegaly
Inhibit the secretion of various gastrointestinal and pancreatic hormones, suppress the proliferation of neuroendocrine tumor cells and induce apoptosis
